Book your required tour option, and inform your guide of your interests when contacted before your tour. See all the best Moscow can offer in a short time. This private layover tour is an ideal choice for those who want to see city in a short time and get the best views and panoramic vistas of Moscow. Note: it might not be reasonable to book a tour if you have only 3 hours as only transportation to the city and back takes about 2 hours.
Meet your private guide at Moscow airport or train station, and travel into the city by train or taxi before buying a Metro pass (all own expense). Alternatively, if you’ve upgraded, enjoy a transfer into the city, and receive your Metro pass from your guide (included in price).
Begin your approximately 7-hour tour by metro — an attraction in itself. Opened in 1935, this underground network was built to glorify the Soviet Union, with mosaics, chandeliers, and statues.
Depending on your wishes, admire landmarks like Red Square and St. Basil’s Cathedral, and visit the Kremlin. If time allows, enjoy a Russian lunch and visit other attractions like Gorky Park and Sparrow Hills.
See below for a sample 7-hour tour. Admission fees, food and drinks, and other activities at your own expense.
10am-12pm: Begin by riding the Metro, seeing its beautiful stations. Then, tour historical Kitay Gorod, exploring its streets and churches on foot. Walk along Nikolskaya Street and see the Bolshoi Theatre from outside, Revolution Square, and Zhukov Monument. Stroll along Alexander Garden, see the Eternal Flame, Kremlin walls and towers.
12pm-1pm: Take in Red Square, Lenin's Mausoleum, and St. Basil's Cathedral, and go souvenir shopping at the famous GUM Department Store, hearing about Moscow’s history as you walk.
1pm-3pm: Watch the Changing of the Guard and tour the massive Kremlin complex, including the Kremlin Cathedrals, Tsar Bell, Tsar Cannon and other sights. You may want to explore the Armory Museum with an optional audio guide.
3pm-4pm: Break for a Russian lunch before your sightseeing of choice: perhaps climbing Sparrow Hills for city views, taking a river cruise (summer only), or visiting Gorky Park, the most popular place among locals.
Your tour ends when your guide drops you at Moscow station, or assists you in getting a taxi or train (own expense) to the airport independently.
