Description
The collections of the Armoury Chamber preserve the state regalia of Russia. Museum's highlights include the Imperial Crown of Russia, Monomakh's Cap, the ivory throne of Ivan the Terrible, imperial carriages, weapons, armour, and the Fabergé eggs. The Diamond Fund is a very special exposition of the Armoury Museum.

As its name suggests, the Diamond Fund stores the biggest and most valuable diamonds, which were ever found on the territory of Russia. Famous for the high purity of its Yakut diamonds, Russia is the second largest producer of diamonds in the world. The collection of the Diamond Fund also houses some of the most precious jewellery items in Russia, including several of the famous Faberge Easter Eggs. You can also admire the Orlov diamond, almost 190 carats, named after Catherine the Great's lover, Prince Grigory Orlov.

The 5 star rating is for Olga, our tour guide. The Diamond Fund was closed on the day of our tour. Olga knew this and the local company she worked for knew this, but Viator and followmetorussia presumably a middle man taking a cut of my fee didn't know and, quite frankly, couldn't care less some rubbish about we are just a platform aka facebook's explanation for the nasties which pop up on its pages from time to time. Olga was great and even improvised a Metro tour on the way to the Kremlin.
