Description
After meeting your guide near Red Square, head with your small group through the complex network of Moscow’s metro. Opened in 1935, the extensive system includes 185 stations that cover 190 miles (305 km) underground.

On this 2-hour metro tour, revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity. Admire the impressive architecture of Moscow’s stations and learn first-hand how the unique character of each interior has changed with each new political era.

See stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar with their pompous halls and high stucco ceilings versus those built later, like Volzhskaya – lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Your guide will discuss how architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

With your guide and small group, take the metro to Kolomenskoye Estate (fare included), situated in a large park just outside of Moscow’s city center near the town of Kolomna. Here, immerse yourself in Russia’s fascinating royal history as you enjoy a 2-hour walking tour and soak up the beautiful scenery.

See the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Church of the Ascension, built in 1532 to honor the future first Russian tsar, Ivan the Terrible. Once called the Eighth Wonder of the World, this magnificent building overlooks the Moskva River and is surrounded by a grove of ancient oak trees.

Next, follow your guide to the 18th-century house of Peter the Great, the only memorial museum devoted to the life and reign of this famous Russian tsar and reformer, and continue to the Colonel's Chamber Museum (included).

Listen to your guide's stories as you walk around the magnificent estate and enjoy views of the landscape below. Learn how during the reign of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich Romanov in the 17th century, Kolomenskoye became the favorite summer residence of the tsar’s family.

We were the only ones to sign up, in essence a private tour. Lenna not only gave us great historical information but lots of great insights into Russian people and culture through the ages. The metro stops have to be seen to believed truly spectacular! Kolmensoye was a bit chilly with fresh fallen snow, but very serene. All in all, a really great day!

This tour was by far the highlight of my trip to Moscow. The guide we had was incredible and thorough and the experience from beginning to the end was fantastic. I highly recommend this tour! One cannot leave Moscow without seeing the subway stations! They are nothing short of magnificent!

Very much enjoyed the tour. The Moscow Metro stations are true works of art and the Kolomensoye Estate was amazing! I skipped an organized tour with my group in order to take this tour. Lovely guide -- a great day out!

Excellent private tour! We lucked out. It was nice to get off the tourist track and head out to Kolomensoye Estate. Our guide was amazing and very generous with her time too!

This tour was excellent and exceeded our expectations in terms of the amount of remarkable things we saw and the attention and knowledge of our guide and there were only two of us on the tour.
The Metro stations have a very impressive array of art museum quality and the history and stories the art tells need a guide to totally appreciate. Each station has different art and the stations are clean with no graffiti. We then walked about 20 minutes to the Kolmensoye Estate which is on a hillside with great views into downtown Moscow.
At the end of the tour, our guide stayed with us on the Metro to the station closest to our hotel. Such service.

As a daily metro user at home, this was a great tour of beautiful stations and the history of soviet propaganda.

We had a very knowledgeable guide who was keen to help us make the most of it. The Metro tour was lovely as was Kolomenskoye Estate, however I wish we had the chance to visit the Church of the Ascension as well, which was the most unique building in the large park. If it had been on the tour agenda, I would definitely give this trip 5 stars! Still enjoyed it immensely!

Great tour guide. Weather was rainy so we did the metro first. Loved seeing the great Soviet architecture. She even taught us how to buy tickets and use the system which made the rest of our trip so much better! When we finished that portion of the tour, the weather had cleared so we had a great afternoon in Kolomensoye Park. The tour was well, paced and guide was wonderful. It was just the guide and ourselves so we were able to linger where we wanted to.

2 hours before start they called to tell me the tour needed to be delayed for 2 hours. Guide still did her best but I missed most of Kolomensoye as this didn't fit my schedule.
