Stop At: Buckingham Palace, Spur Road, London SW1A 1AA England

Official London residence of the monarchy since 1837, Buckingham Palace is the centrepiece and jewel in the British crown. Starting its life as a private house called 'Buckingham House' built in 1705 for the Duke of Buckingham, it was eventually brought into royal hands in 1761 by King George III and renovated over time into the palace as we know it today.

Recognised around the world, Buckingham Palace opens its doors every summer to visitors from around the world. On this tour of the State Rooms, you'll see important rooms such as the Throne Room, The White Drawing Room and the Ballroom, each more lavishly decorated than the last and filled with ornate furniture, paintings and treasures.

Enjoy the tour at your own pace with an audio multimedia guide that explains the history of the palace and the various rooms within the State Rooms. At the end of your tour, you'll walk along the south side of the Palace garden, where you'll meet your guide before the next part of your Royal journey.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Windsor Castle, Castle Hill, Windsor SL4 1PD England

The largest, continuously occupied castle in Europe, Windsor Castle is the spiritual home of the monarchy with a history that stretches back more than 900 years to the days of William the Conqueror. Marvel at the splendour of the State Apartments, renowned as the grandest apartments in England, where paintings by Van Dyck and Rubens hang from the walls, and the ceilings are painted with elaborate, magnificent murals.

Step inside St George’s Chapel, where HRH Prince Harry married Ms Meghan Markle, and the tombs of prominent previous monarchs are located, including Henry VIII and Charles I. If Her Majesty is in Windsor during your visit, you may even be fortunate enough to see the Royal Standard flying on the flagpole of the Round Tower.

Great tour guideDebbie and tour...it was a fun time. One recommendation - break up your palace and castle tour into 2 days or you may get brain overload with all the sights and information. Wish Viator had the tour operator email to confirm ahead of time instead of having to call on arrival. Added bonus was we were able to get dropped off by our hotel instead of Victoria tube station as it just happen to be on the way. P.S. Same review as another as our family had 2 different ticket bookings due to add-on members.

Our tour of Buckingham Palace was fine, but you would be just as well off doing it on your own. After we stood in the sun for over an hour waiting for the bus 'traffic' supposedly. The trip to Windsor and lunch were OK, They then dump you in the castle for your walk thru. Unfortunately for us it was extremely crowded and very hot. Not the tour fault, but again - except for the bus ride out to WIndsor - just as well of and save some money doing it direct.

Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle are definitely 2 “must see” places. Just don’t use this Viator excursion! The morning went fine, but Windsor was a nightmare. Our tour guide, Norma, was useless when two of us got turned around and lost on our way back to the car park where the bus was located. She had not given us a cell number so we could reach her, and when we finally called a friend who had made it back to the bus, Norma refused to talk to us, and ridiculed us to the other passengers. We reported that we were at the post office, and Norma said she didn’t know where that was. The bus ended up leaving us behind in Windsor. Very stressful! We had to find our own way back to London.

Leslie was a great guide, totally enjoyed the day. Having lunch included was nice. The bus ride went well with a great driver also.
