Fantastic tour!! Met early at train station, but a fairly easy check in. Getting off train in Paris we met our guide Monica. One word to describe her....outstanding!!!! Friendly, personable, and knowledgeable!! Conveyed history, advice and personal anecdotes into the tour. Sites were outstanding!!!
The guide in London met us with everything we needed for a seamless rail trip to Paris. Once there, our Paris guide was, informative and fun. We given plenty of time at each location.
Our tour contact was 1/2 hour late to register us and we had to literally run to the train after clearing security, 4 people in our tour did not make the train. Our guide Michael was knowledgeable, friendly and did a great job of dealing with a very difficult situation. Great trip otherwise.
Lunch is iffy, but otherwise highly recommended. I looked up the train prices, and it was a better deal to book with the tour. Despite the delay with the train itself, Michael knew how to make sure we can still make the most of the remaining time. With the lunch option, I felt like I should have picked the river cruise instead, but it wasn't bad. There wasn't enough time at the Louvre, but at least I got the highlights.
Michael was a wonderful guide but basically you really only see the city from inside a tour bus or on a hour long river cruise. We had lunch on the Eiffel Tower which meant we missed out on even the cruise. The time inside the Louvre is short allowing for just the highlights. It's worth it for the limited experience at the Tower and museum and to say I've been to Paris but it's really just a cursory tour.
This could have easily been a five star trip, except for: Everything about this trip was wonderful till we actually met up with our guide in Paris. I could have talked more about France and Paris than our guide and I had never been there before. Our bus driver was great, threading his way through traffic. However, we began our journey from the train station by inching along the front of an outdoor market that we were told was full of pickpockets and thieves. Then, we made a U turn to drive behind the same market and hear the same commentary. That took the first 45 minutes of our day in Paris. Then, mostly in silence, we traveled through one of the great cities of the world. The destinations - Eiffel Tower and the Louvre were wonderful! At the end of our time, our guide actually spent moments telling us about other cities he had visited as if to say they were all superior to Paris. Except for the guide, it was a wonderful day all, in all. I only give it a one because of the pitiful tour guide.
