It was great to see the castle and the village of Windsor that surrounds it. We also saw the chapel where Harry and Meaghan will get married next month. It will be a bit more special now when I'm watching it on TV since I was just there.
The area around the castle is hilly and both my friend and I have some mobility issues. The employees at the castle could not have been more helpful with getting us a ride up to the castle on a golf cart. As each staff member brought us to the next person, each was more helpful than the last which was hard to do when you start with outstanding visitor service. I was going to skip the Doll House, but was glad I didn't. It is something to see. Loved seeing the State Apartments. I've seen them on TV and it was great to be there in person. We got to be at the castle for about 3 hours on our own. We grabbed some Thai food for take away in the surround village before we left. It was inexpensive and delicious.
It was easy to book and meet up with this bus tour and it was very pleasant, Katya was our guide and she did a good job with narration history and fun facts about London and Windsor Castle and the Royals as we drove to and from Windsor and was helpful in guiding us to Windsor Castle and through the security points and explaining when to meet up after spending the afternoon at the Castle. This tour also included admission to Windsor Castle state apartments, the Queen Mary Dollhouse room, plus St. George's Chapel. Thank you very much!
We had ro wait for more than 30 minutes at the bus stop until the coach arrived. The tour as o.key!!
The bus was on time and skipping the queue was great. Once I was there the castle, the chapel and the village were great. Definitely worth getting the audioguide and spending the time looking around. There was minimal information given on the bus as if it was just a bus transfer service.
Bus was late, but everything else was a hit. The tour guide was great.
The bus was comfortable and fine. However, there was not enough time allotted for the visit. The entry line was quite long and it left us with just over 1 hour to view the castle.
This was quite disappointing, but the circumstances were beyond the control of the tour guide. It was extremely crowded with very, very long lines, initially for security and bag checking, then to get into Windsor Castle. As such, it was quite rushed, and we only got to see half of what we wanted to see, which meant Queen Mary's Doll House wasn't part of the tour due to time constraints. The bus ride included an interesting overview of British history and royalty over the past few centuries on the way out to Windsor. I'd recommend a longer day trip, if possible, or go at a less busy time of the year for tourists if you want to do this tour justice and see it all of it without being rushed and missing half of it.
DO NOT use Anderson Tours!! AWFUL!! The disorganized director Maria was late picking us up then took 30 minutes to check everyone off and let them onto the bus. She had the names all mixed up, not in any order. Proceeded to drive to Windsor, she's telling us she had a map That's not very good but will have to do...it was a hand drawn sketch. Reluctantly told us some facts while on the way...she said This is not my job to tell you this but... When we got there, she had us line up and march 2x2 into the city so she could keep count of our small group. She yelled at everyone constantly to stay in formation. It was humiliating! Then we had to get into the line to get tickets. Isn't that what I paid for to avoid?! Wasn't that her job as a director of a tour?! We had to wait 1 1/2 hours in the line to get our tickets then another 45 minutes to get through security. I understand that security was necessary but the ticket line was what I was led to believe I was paying to avoid! Instead I paid for a bus ride and a humiliating walk through the town. After spending over 2 hours waiting in line, Maria told us that she was feeling generous and would extend our time there by 30 minutes. wow. That left us with less then 2 hours to see the castle and town. That was impossible! Instead, we ditched Maria and decided to take the train back into London ourselves. DO THAT INSTEAD OF PAYING FOR THIS!! The train was easy and relaxing. I am so angry that I paid such a high price for a one way bus ride. Anderson tours is a huge FAILURE!!!!
Tour bus showed up about 40 minutes late. Once we go to Windsor Castle, we lost the tour guide and she did not give any phone to call. We ended up paying for entry into Windsor since we could not find our tour guide. There was a massive crowd outside Windsor. Very disappointed with Anderson Tours.
Don't do it! First, the tour guide was 15 min late picking us up. It was raining all day, which of course could not be helped, however - instead of dropping us off at the bus entrance, the tour guide parked at the end of the bus parking lot and we had to walk a longer distance. The tour guide also smoked in front of us, which I found very unprofessional. Next, when we got to the entrance, the tour guide did not have the voucher to give to the ticket people so we could not get our tickets. So we had to go back out and stand in the entrance way for 35 min while he called the main office to get this resolved. We finally got into the castle and the visit was pleasant from then on out. The tour guide gave us extra time, which was nice, but then that further delayed us getting back to London. The tour says you get back to London around 1:30pm, but we did not get back to the pick up point until almost 3:30pm. If you can find a way to get to Windsor, just go on your own. There was absolutely no advice or commentary given about anything, literally just a bus to pick you up and bring you back to London. One of the WORST tour experiences I have ever had. Anderson tours gets 1 star and two thumbs down.
