The White Cliffs of Dover were impressive and we had a beautiful day with blue skies and white clouds. My son proposed to his then girlfriend up on the hillside. The castle was fascinating because of its history. The towns of Canterbury and Kent were very quaint but historic. If we have a chance to go to London again, we would not hesitate to go on this tour again.
I want to start by saying that the small-group nature of this tour was a huge factor in what made this such a great tour! Two days after this tour I did another one that had over 250 people, and it was terrible. This one had only 12 (two people didn't show up), and it was so nice to have the smaller group so that it didn't feel like the guide was trying to herd sheep the whole time. And that brings me to my next point: the guide, Gareth! He was wonderful! His stories about the different attractions were always fun and interesting with colorful details, and he was great because he didn't talk TOO much. I went on another tour where myself and others just wanted to beg the guide to leave us alone. Gareth knew when to tell stories and when it was time to let us deal with the fact that we had gotten up so early for a tour on vacation. To start the day, he took us by all the big attractions (Parliament, London Eye, etc.) on the way out of London and told fun stories about them as he did. It's about two hours from London to Dover so he stopped about an hour in and let us use the restroom, buy snacks, etc. We then stopped at Dover Castle for a picture opportunity as none of the people on our tour wanted to actually go into the castle as we all wanted to hike the Cliffs. We arrived at the White Cliffs and had a full 2.5 hours to hike! We were incredibly lucky because it was a beautiful day, so clear that we could see France. Bit of advice, wear shoes that you don't mind getting a bit muddy. I wore my hiking boots and was very glad I did. After meeting back at the bus, we drove the half hour to Canterbury and again had another 2.5 hours to explore the city. It was enough time for me to tour Canterbury Cathedral, sit down for lunch and a beer, and walk around the city. All in all, it was a great day and I cannot recommend this tour enough. I'll say again, go for the small group tours. I learned a lesson on this vacation on another tour, and I will never book another tour that's not advertised as small group because this one was just fabulous!
It was such a beautiful day! Humming the tune of White Cliifs of Dover, we were intoxicated by the magnificent scenary in front of our eyes! The tour was very well paced with plenty of time to explore. Tom was a lovely guide with a lot of information about England. Thoroughly enjoyed our day!
This was a wonderful tour, and well worth the money! We were picked up in an easy-to-find location and there were only two or three other tours meeting at the same spot, so it was not confusing at all. Our tour guide Lucy was delightful, providing great anecdotes from her time growing up in the area, and our bus driver, John, was terrific in getting us around. The tour was well organized; we left right on time and were able to spend about three hours in each place. We did not do the optional Dover Castle tour, and we were so glad to have spent all three hours in the Cliffs! It is beautiful scenery, and honestly, photos can't prepare you for it. Canterbury was a lovely town - the three hours we were there allowed us time to grab a quick bite, tour the Canterbury Cathedral (the price for this is not included, but it's well worth the price of the ticket!), and a pint at a local pub. A truly wonderful trip at a great value.
our guide Rosie was excellent, she was very knowledge with a bright and sunny disposition. She clearly exhibits a passion for what she does . There was sufficient time allotted in the tour for the proper enjoyment of both the Cliffs and the town of Canterbury. Would highly recommend.
Our tour guide Rosie was phenomenal. She was a wealth of information and provided interesting tidbits about English history. The White Cliffs were breathtaking!! Canterbury was beautiful and so was the cathedral there.
The van itself was good. Ac was working and you can charge your phone.
The driver drove professionally at all times. There were some times were she was changing lanes a little too much.
Music was okay. Commentary was good.
The way there wasn't bad so you probably won't get car sick.
Tour is not a good idea for those with disabilities, pregnant, afraid of heights, afraid of walking lol, those with babies, obese.
There is definitely not enough time in any of the places.
They made an unscheduled stop to pick someone up(which was gonna be our tour guide and she was nice) but that took time from our tour. Idk...oh well.
Canterbury was nice. Lots of places to shop and eat. I liked that. You travel and shop. Right?
I would suggest taking the train. The tour did not impart much information. It was just a bus ride and then you were on there schedule.
