Top 10 Sights in Oslo
1. Akershus Fortress
Akershus fortress enjoys a serene setting in the bay of Oslo. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views over the bay – or simply go for a walk along the bastions. The fortress includes many smaller museums and exhibits.
3. Fram Museum
Norwegians have some of the big names in exploration. The Fram museum tells the story of the strongest wooden ship ever built (Fram, of course) and it’s resident explorer Nansen.
5. Munch museum
Munch is THE painter in Norway (and for pretty many non-Norwegians too). The museum is located on the outskirts of Oslo, but will soon relocate to the bay area.
6. Mathallen Oslo
Take a walk up the Akerselva river to Mathallen Oslo, a food market hall. Have an excellent, decently priced lunch (preferably fish) at one of the many cozy stalls.
7. Vigeland Park
The park includes more than 200 sculptures by Gustav Vigieland. This is one of the most popular sights in Oslo with over 1 million visitors per year.
9. Oslo Island Hopping
Considering how dependent Norway has always been on seafare, we suggest you take a small step to sea. Get on a ferry at Akers Brygge and see the islands (summertime)!
